    Deb Mills, Becky Fawson

    Paperback (BookBaby, June 1, 2019)
Did you know that it takes at least three deep breaths to make an impact on our nervous system, which is affected by the many emotions we experience every day? Learning to breathe deep is a simple and effective tool to help us feel calm and present. This is a tool we can teach our children to empower them to overcome negative emotions and to be present during positive ones. "Little BIG Feelings" is a fun, colorful, friendly children's picture book written in rhyme that addresses different emotions children experience on a daily basis. It gives examples of circumstances that cause each emotion, lets children know that it is normal to feel them, and that everybody does, and teaches our children to breathe deep to process their emotions.

  • Little Nugget Has Big Feelings

    Jennifer S Williams LICSW, K M Williams, A H Williams

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, April 22, 2019)
This book was born out of the realization that many of the children who walked into my office did not have a good explanation of why they were coming to see me. And regardless of how well I explained my role to them, they felt like they did not have a good enough explanation of “why.” We, as adults, know that “why” is usually the big question for children. With that realization in mind, I wanted to create a tool that would help adults explain better to children that often their first visit to me in precipitated by a perceived “big feeling”. Sometimes that can look like a physical act, verbal interactions with others or a combination of events. It really doesn’t matter. The adult in their life has come to that pivotal moment of “We need help with this.” This book is charged with introducing new concepts and ideas such as lagging skills, emotion regulation, perspective-taking and coping skill implementation. All words and phrases used in individual treatment with dysregulated children. The primary message in this book is that asking for help shows strength and competency for children. It is indeed the first step in skill attainment. My hope is that this book is a tool you can use to introduce the idea of therapy to the child you love. I hope your child enjoys Nugget’s plight and can relate to him and I assure you...He is real!
